:"Dwarf" is both their race and their name. We don't know if they are a "he" or a "she" or neither or both, so we use "they" (you did that correctly, well done! Many English speakers get that wrong)
:Personally, I use "the dwarf" or "the Dwarf" to indicate race and not name, because I think they have a real name, but we don't know what it is. A lot of other editors use "Dwarf" as their actual name, and that's not wrong. (I don't particularly like it, but it's not wrong.) 😁
:There is also the dwarf in the volcano, and their name is surely not "Dwarf", the same as the dwarf in the mines... So to me, it's their race and not their name. But you can decide for yourself which you think is right. Either way, you won't be wrong.
