The normal procedure is to "View Source" on the English wiki, and copy the text in the white box, then paste it into the Turkish wiki. After that, you start translating. Corrupt translations

As far as I've seen from the earlier talk, you don't really know Turkish, and therefore, I'd kindly request you not to edit translations. And since you don't know the language too, let me clarify some things:

• "Gezgin" means "traveler, person who travels". "Seyahat" means "travel". "Sepet" might mean "cart", but not the cart pulled by animals, it refers to little baskets you carry stuff in. As you can see, "basket of travel" doesn't really mean "traveling cart" and sounds like a machine translation (and, as you stated above, it most likely is).
• As you said that you are the wiki admin, I'd like you to change the name of the "Yığınları" to "Yığınlar". The last "-ı" suffix is accusative suffix, and without a prior context, it gets people asking "what bundle?". That's weird as the way it is right now.

If I've been rude, I'm sorry. But trust me, if some guy that explicitly states that he doesn't know your language comes over and changes ALL of your translations as if they knew better, you'd behave like me, too. I just wanted to do some good for the community and translate all pages, one by one, in alphabetical order, and not having someone corrupt my translations after I submit them would be very cool. Hello Furkan! Welcome to the wiki! First of all, I meant no disrespect to your language, and yes, I don't speak a word of Turkish, as is obvious. The problem is, several pages already link to the existing (bad) translation for Traveling Cart, including 11 other languages. I checked, and another Turkish translator used the translation, so I guessed that it was ok. Obviously not.

I can make the changes tomorrow, from the bad translation to the proper one. In the future, please discuss bad translations with me before committing them to the wiki, so I can make the cascading changes on this wiki and the other language wikis. It may be a simple case of creating a redirect, or the changes might be more involved. But I can assess that only if you discuss bad translations with me before creating a lot of changes.

1. Learn the game well, especially late-game events and mechanics. This includes learning the name the game uses to call things (items, places, etc.)
2. Learn mediawiki syntax. This is especially important because I'm spending a lot of time cleaning up bad edits that you've made.
3. Read the instructions at the top of the page for how to sign your posts with 4 tildes ~~~~, and use that information to sign your posts.
4. Make significant contributions to the wiki, with minimal errors.

Please stop signing each page of the wiki with your signature. You only need to sign comments on talk pages like this one. Avoid making stray comments like "94/5000 pages translated" on content pages as well.

You continue to make the same kinds of errors by translating the names of templates. If you see {{English name|words words words}} then you should not translate the "English name" part, as it causes redlinks. You can see these if you preview the page, or after saving your edits. Well, you deleted the part of the switch/case statement that deals with "they". So, that will affect the Cüce page when it's created. All villagers are either male or female, except the Dwarf. The Dwarf's gender is "undefined" in the game's data files, so the pronoun "they" is used instead of "he" or "she" in English.

I made a change that should fix the template for everyone, including the Dwarf. And, no, it's not a problem if the template looks broken but it looks normal on villagers' pages! At least, not usually. Templates all look a bit strange. As long as the villagers' pages look good, your changes are fine.

As for Şablon:GiftHeader, I've deleted the sections that contain pronouns. So, now there is just text, and you can edit it more easily. You are free to make any changes you think are appropriate to the template at any time. ok? I want to make it as easy as possible for you.

There is one issue with Şablon:GiftHeader that we need to fix. The template is supposed to link to the "Events" heading on the seasonal page (Bahar, Yaz, Güz or Kış). Meaning if a user clicks the link, it will take them to the "Events" heading on the page instead of the top of the page. (This is what "#Events" does.) But two pages use "Olaylar" and the other two use "Etkinlikler". We need to decide on a word to use for all 4 seasons' pages. (And when I say "we", I mean you, because I don't speak Turkish.) Please advise!

As for the topic of "Etkinlikler" and "Olaylar", for birthday and festivals the word "Etkinlikler" will be more appropriate. but for things like the Salmonberry season, "Olaylar" would be more appropriate. How can I change the name of the pages? The names of many categories are in English. There are also erroneous ones. Sulama Kabılar are one of the faulty ones. I haven't found another one yet. There is no such word as 'Sulama Kabılar' in Turkish. the correct spelling is 'Sulama Kabı'. If you want it to be plural, It should be written in the form of 'Sulama Kapları'. Hello Syammu! Moving a page is something only I can do. But, I don't mind. After I move a page, I have to change the links in all the other languages, and then change all the links in Turkish. I have special tools that let me do that more easily. So, just let me know when you find them, and I can fix them.

Categories are different than normal pages. You can change the category name from English to Turkish, then click the redlink, and you will be taken to the "create page" page. You can then create the category with the correct name. Put {{Categoryheader|name of category in Turkish}} at the top, click "save changes", and you're done.

You can also add a parent category to the Category page, if you know what the parent category is. (For example, in English there are 'Summer Crops', and the parent category is simply 'Crops'.) You add a parent category to a Category page the same way you would add a category to a normal page, by putting [[Category:Name of parent category]] at the bottom.

If you find a category page that already exists and is a bad translation, you can delete all the text and add {{delete}} to the page, then save it. Then create the new (correct) page. I'll come by and delete the bad page later. After that, you have to change the category name on all the individual pages, one by one.

Reporting Bugs & finding game files

Hello, Syammu! I'm creating a new topic because the indentation is getting too big.

In the meantime, you should make a note on the page that explains the error.

To find the options for the player to choose in heart events, you should look in the file for the location where the heart event takes place, somewhere under Data/Events. You have to know the name of the location in English to find it.

A better way, though, is to use a text editor (like Notepad++) that allows you to "Find in Files..." Set the location to the entire unpacked "Content" folder, and search for one of the options in English. In the search results window, you can see the name of the file in English. Then you can open the corresponding Turkish file.

For example, you would search the entire unpacked "Content" folder for "You're safe with me" to find Abigail's 10-heart event. The search results window shows Data/Events/Mine.json. You can open the file Data/Events/Mine.tr-TR.json to see the translation.

I don't know if Notepad++ can be installed in Turkish or English-only, but there should be many text editors that you can choose from.

A New User on the Wiki

Hello, I'm interested in editing or creating pages in Turkish Wiki. I want to learn if most of the pages were translated by using a Translator app? Because some of the texts are not really suitable for Turkish, also can't change some of them because some of the pages are protected. Such as, "Witch Hut" is translated as "Cadı Kulübe", which I think "Cadı Kulübesi" would be better to understand it. But I can't change it since it's on the main page and the main page is protected. Finding Things' Translation in the Game

As the Wiki rules, we need to write the same things as it's in the game, such as character dialogues, objects names, etc. But some things may be hard to obtain even while using some cheat mods. For example, the mysterious call you get after you turn children into doves. As I read before, you have the dialogues or names of objects for the Turkish language in a file. Translation Suggestion (Main Page, "About")

In the "About" part in the main page, the text basicly talks about the game's content. In the second sentence, it says "Büyükbaban, Stardew Valley'deki eski çiftliğini sana miras olarak bıraktı." "Qi's Walnut Room" & "Buffs" Translation

Hello. Qi's Walnut Room is translated as "Bay Qi'nin Ceviz Odası" in its page. Is this its name in game, or machine-translated? Because it also contains the "Mr." in Turkish. It would be better if it was "Qi'nin Ceviz Odası".

If you unpack the game files, you can see how Qi's Walnut Room (or any in-game term) is referred to in the game. Use a text editor that allows you to search an entire folder/directory for the search term. In this case "Mr. Qi's Walnut Room" vs. "Qi's Walnut Room" is not a big enough change to justify all the cascading changes it would require. Translation Suggestions for the Home Page and Some Other Things

Hello, I reviewed the home page and some other pages a bit and thought these translations would be better.

• The first text, "Welcome to the official Stardew Valley Wiki" is translated as "Resmi Stardew Valley Wiki'sine hoş geldin". "Wiki" can be translated as "Viki" in Turkish and the text can be re-translated as "Resmi Stardew Valley Vikisine hoş geldin". But, of course, if you the one matters here is the wiki's official name, Stardew Valley Wiki, it can stay as the same.
• On the "versions" area, there are different platforms' latest update dates. The date format can be changed as (example), "(Güncellendi: 20 Şubat 2023)", instead of "(Güncellendi 20 Şubat 2023)". But I take a look on the English wiki again and as I see, there is no comma or anything between the "Updated" and the date. So again, if you want it to stay as it's now, it wouldn't be such a problem.
• On the "resources" area, the name of the "Stardew Profits" can be changed from "Stardew Karları" to "Stardew Kârları" (with a diacritical "a"), because "kar" and "kâr" are different things.
• According to the dictionary, "öğe" is just a wrong usage for the word "öge". "Yem_(öğe)" page can be moved to Yem_(öge). I'm planning to change other pages that contain the wrong word in it, but I'll wait until you response. If this suggestion gets approved, maybe we can also create a redirect page in "Yem_(öğe)" to send users to Yem_(öge).

For the "öge" word; I use the Turkish Language Association's original dictionary and I don't think there can be a mistake on there. As I search on there, "öğe" is not a word and the right usage is "öge".

Questions or Improvements About Some Translations

Hello. I encountered these translations I'm not sure about.

• Is the name "Shrine of Challenge" mentioned in the game? I couldn't find anything in the files, otherwise, I will translate it myself. Please inform me about this.

• In the ??? (şapka) page, "Volcano Caldera" is translated as "Kaldera Yanardağı". This can be misunderstood by users, which can be understood like there is an another volcano called "Kaldera". I'm planning to change this as "Volkan Kalderası", as it's more of a proper translation. Please inform me about if this name is translated in the game or machine translated.

• In most of the pages, "Perfection" is sometimes translated as "Mükemmellik" or "İlerleme". As we can see in the game with "Perfection Tracker", the translator translated that as "İlerleme", but I don't think that's a proper word to use for something that describes "finishing the game". And "Perfection"s meaning in Turkish language is "Mükemmellik" anyways. Please, tell your opinions about this.

• For the Warp Totem page, it's translated as "Işınlanma Totemi". I think we can move this as "Işınlanma Totemleri", as the page is not talking about a singular item, and more than 1 items. I'm planning to do changes for this name, but inform me if you think there is any problem with its new translation.

• I said this on an another message before, but can we change the Buffler page's name? For the other translation suggestions' refuses, it's totally okay, yes. But for "Buffler", I think we can change it as "Bufflar". It's just because of the pronouncation of the word. Maybe after that, we can create a redirect page in "Buffler" that sends users to "Bufflar", or change the links in the pages that have the link "Buffler" in its texts.

Problem About Slime Hutch & Slimes

Hello, the Slime Hutch is translated as Balçıkca Kümesi, both in wiki and game. But I checked files and they used "Balçıkça" (expect for 2 items and 1 fish name that contains "Balçık"). I've reported this mistake on forums, but should we continue using the name with typo in it until they fix it, or just start to use the right one?

And another thing related to this: Slimes are translated as Balçıklar in the wiki, but as I said before, "Balçıkçalar" should be the right translation for it.

Normally I would say that the wiki should match the game. (I say this a lot!) But in this case it's a matter of a cedilla (c vs. ç), so we should use the correct words on the wiki, but create a redirect from each page with a typo to the correct page without the typo. That way, users can type what they see in-game into the search box and get to the correct page. So, create a redirect from "Balçıkca Kümesi" to "Balçıkça Kümesi", etc., etc. And remember to change the inter-language links in other languages!

Fish Page

Problem on Marmelat ve Turşu

Since it takes 4 days to make jelly, as a player, you might want to consider selling the gold or iridium apple instead of turning it into jelly, because you have to wait 4 days for only 100g or 50g. But to avoid giving advice, we just say that profits decrease as the quality of the fruit increases.

Also, the English page should probably be updated to say "iridium quality" instead of "gold quality", since iridium quality is possible with all crops as of v1.5. If only I had enough time to do it all... *sigh*

Help for a Translation

Those dialogues are in Strings/StringsFromCSFiles.tr-TR.xnb. If you open the English version of the file and search for a part of the dialogue (for example, I searched "I sense that a new viewer"), you find that its entry is "TV.cs.13128". Find the corresponding entry in the TR file, and you have the translation.

This works for almost any piece of dialogue. The reason you don't search for the entire sentence is that sometimes there are programming marks like $s#$b# that don't show up in the game, so you won't find a match.

If you use a text editor like Notepad++ you can "Find in files" to search the entire "Content" folder for a piece of dialogue in English. Once you find it, the Turkish translation will always be listed under the same key (the first part of the entry).

Uppercase and Lowercase Letters

Hello Margotbean! Do we have to create a redirect if a single letter is lowercase? No need for redirects in my opinion (Create the correct page and delete the old one). Oh, Syammu, that is such a good question! I dislike redirects a lot. (A lot!) But, on the English wiki, people are constantly creating them. They don't want to type the capital letter, they want to type "corn seeds" or "artisan goods" or "ice cream" in the search bar at the top right of a page, and be taken directly to "Corn Seeds" or "Artisan Goods" or "Ice Cream".

It's such a major issue in English, I don't know why. If I delete a redirect page, the entire community is ready to start a riot. It can be ridiculous.

Since there is no problem like that on the Turkish wiki, we can delete the redirect from lowercase to uppercase. We think alike on this subject. 👍

Hello Peaw! Nice to see you on the wiki!

Monster names come from the data file Monsters.tr-TR.xnb. Not all monsters appear in that file, though, so the rest were machine-translated. Mutant Grub, Mutant Fly, Iron Slime, Copper Slime, Haunted Skull, Armored Bug, and Stick Bug appear nowhere in-game or game files, so those were machine-translated. With the "(dangerous)" monsters, the word "dangerous" was also machine-translated. There may be more, but I'm 90% sure that's it.

Sometime before I came to the wiki (in the very early days), people decided that the "Fly" should be "Cave Fly", but in data files it is just "Fly". I can't explain why. It would be fine if other languages did the same thing (added "Cave"), if they felt it necessary.

Also, the words "Frost Jelly" and "Sludge" appear in the data file. Those are just confusing, so "Blue Slime" and "Red Slime" and "Purple Slime" are used in most places on the wiki. (I might change the Monsters page in English to reflect this, now that I see it!) A Frost Jelly is a Blue Slime, and a Sludge is either a Red Slime or a Purple Slime, in the game's code. It's just confusing to call them something else! I don't know why ConcernedApe did that, but I know he rewrote the mines a few times before the game was released.

Some of the monsters in the data file were never implemented in the game: Shadow Guy, Fireball, Skeleton Warrior, Crow, Frog, Cat, and Spiker. Of course crows, frogs, and a pet cat are in the game, but not as monsters.

"Dwarf" is both their race and their name. We don't know if they are a "he" or a "she" or neither or both, so we use "they" (you did that correctly, well done! Many English speakers get that wrong)

There is no Turkish image, I'm afraid. What you can do is to add the text using Template:Quote, and you can find the text in Data/TV/TipChannel.tr-TR.xnb. It will look like this:

Hello Peaw!! The legend of a map or chart explains the colors or symbols used on the map or chart. I searched for a page in Turkish, but couldn't find one. Here is one in English: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legend_(map)#Legend

The page is about maps, but it applies to charts and graphs too. Sometimes it's labeled a "key" to the map/chart/graph instead of a "legend". Editing Multiple Pages At The Same Time

Hello Margotbean! I usually have problems when I came across a bad translation that is used in a lot of pages. For example, "Tarih" is used for "History" in a lot of pages, while it should be "Geçmiş". How can I use the "edit" tool or even better "find and replace" tool in multiple pages? It's like the MassEdit JS in Fandom, if you know. I think you have this tool in this wiki because I see you changing a lot of pages at the same time 🙃. Thank you! "Mines" Translation

Hi Syammu! Yes, Tiled is free and reliable. I have it myself, I downloaded it from https://thorbjorn.itch.io/tiled

Click the blue "Download Now" button, and then "No thanks, just take me to the downloads" to skip the part where you can donate money.

It doesn't use any other apps, but it does have to be installed. (You have to save the downloaded file somewhere you can find it, then double-click it to install Tiled.)

Removed Dyeing Items

Stardew Community Wiki

Initially it was an important record of the wiki's past, it contained discussions about how the game code worked, and it had everyone's contributions recorded. When ConcernedApe took ownership of the wiki, we thought no one's user names or contributions would be copied from the "old" wiki maintained by Chucklefish to the "new" wiki maintained by ConcernedApe, so it was an important record of users' contributions too. But I think that turned out to be illegal (or potentially illegal), so everyone's account was moved from old to new.

Other than that, I'm not 100% sure... the former Admin was committed to the game and the community, and wanted to keep the wiki online for "as long as possible". That's all I know. margotbean (mesaj) 23.05, 2 Eylül 2023 (UTC)

Hello Peaw, I hope you are doing well! I was just doing cleanup, it seems like you all decided on a good translation, so there was no need for the note. It also caused problems on the Japanese wiki, where one person came up with a good translation, then another changed it because it didn't match the description of the Bluebird Mask, and half the pages linked to one translation, and half linked to the other.

Question About Some Furnitures

Hello Margotbean! How are you? I hope you're doing good. I have a question about Şifonyer pages, such as Ceviz Şifonyer or Huş Şifonyer. These were named "Şifoniyer" but now they are "Şifonyer". Hello Peaw! I'm incredibly stressed out about the upcoming v1.6 release, but otherwise I'm doing well. Thank you for asking! I hope you are doing great in all ways possible.

The translations for v1.6 are not complete yet, so I don't know if the translation will be fixed. Version 1.5 has not been changed, but you don't need me to tell you what terms the game uses for furniture in v1.5.

There should be a redirect from every typo page Meşe Şifoniyer, Ceviz Şifoniyer, Huş Şifoniyer, etc. to the correctly-named page. So, users can type what they see in-game and get to the correct page. Normally, the page should be the same as it appears in-game with a note about how it contains a typo or mistranslation, but with so many pages being affected by this one typo, I think it's ok to have the pages named correctly, with redirects to them.

So, in short, it was a wiki-only change. But, it may be an in-game change with v1.6, we just don't know yet. 🤞 margotbean (mesaj) 17.40, 20 Aralık 2023 (UTC)

Seaweed and Moss Has the Same Name

Hi, Margotbean, I hope you're well. The moss from the 1.6 update has the same name as seaweed in Turkish, so the 2 items are given the same name. Moss is called Yosun in Turkish and Seaweed is also called Yosun, do you need to change this or should it stay like this?

I think I saw it after the 1.6.4 update (I'm not sure). If I knew how to add a picture, I would have added a picture of the problem here. I asked for the file for control purposes and I couldn't find it. But Lewis was saying: "Now, for the winner of this year's ice fishing competition... Releationship: Syammu12. Here's your prize! Abandoned House

You know that after version 1.6 the price of all hats was removed to be 1000g. So maybe we can put the prices of all the hats there? What do you think? I know the template needs to be updated, but it has to be updated in all 12 languages at the same time. So, we have to work with the existing template for now. It does allow you to write in the price (other than 1000g) as it is now. What I mean is that we can delete the 'Achievement' column from the table on the Hats (Şapkalar) page, and in the 'How Obtain' column we can write "the Abandoned House after earn x achievement".
